Part-Time Foreign Language Teacher - Hope Elementary School

The Hope School Department has an anticipated opening for a 2.5 days/week K-8 foreign language teacher for the 2021 – 2022 school year. Appropriate State of Maine certification is required. The ideal candidate will be energetic, experienced, collaborative, and knowledgeable about child development and should possess the following:

  • Experienced foreign language teacher preferred;
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and share best practice;
  • Skilled at working with all students; student-centered.

Part-Time Music Teacher - Hope Elementary School

Hope Elementary School seeks qualified applicants for the position of K-8 Music Teacher, starting in the 2021-2022 school year.  This is a 3.5 day/week position. Candidates must be qualified to teach general music classes to our K-5 students. Additionally, applicants must be proficient in the teaching of instrumental lessons for our 5-8 students in our band program. Appropriate, current K-8 certification is required.

Hope Elementary School is seeking a full-time nurse to start in the 2021-2022 school year.

Hope Elementary School is a K-8 school seeking a full-time, registered school nurse beginning September 1st. Experience with young children is required. Knowledge of Section 504 and Individual Health Plans (IHPs), as well as an ability to remove health-related barriers to learning for students is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Candidates must possess a current RN License issued by the State of Maine, three years experience, possess or be eligible for Maine Department of Education School Nurse Certification (Endorsement 524) and Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) Certification.

General Job Description:

The school nurse serves as the primary healthcare provider and coordinator within the public school.  The school nurse supports student learning by helping to manage both acute and chronic medical conditions of students.  Specific duties include triage, providing emergency medical care, administering or supervising the administration of prescription medications, providing guidance on medical issues, performing vision, hearing and other related screenings as required by Maine Department of Education, maintaining communications with families regarding medical concerns, maintaining student medical records, monitoring immunization compliance, and communicating with staff as necessary.

Substitute Teachers for the Hope, Appleton and Lincolnville Schools

Pay scale for substitute teachers is as follows:

Subs with a four year degree (in anything):  $125/day

$135/day if more than 10 continuous days retroactive to day 1 (although we usually hire a sub with a teaching degree who then gets their per diem as a teacher pay)

Subs without a four year degree:  $100/day

$110 if more than 10 continuous days retroactive to day 1 (see above however)
